3.4 Development of PAFMAC

The biggest difference between the previous PFAS lies in its specific design for hotel rooms.

3.4.2 Needs of hotel management company and AC engineering firms

  • Minimize revenue loss: Minimize out of order rooms due to construction to only the floor being worked and floors above and below with 30 day construction requirement for 1 floor with 33 rooms.

3.4.3 PAFMAC Specs

・Operable at water temperatures between 45 to 110F°

・Temperatures adjustable by 1 degree increments between 63 to 83F°

・3 levels of air volume strengths: 280, 210, 170CFM

・Fan coil capacity is equivalent to #200 and the heat pump compressor is 300W

・Cooling capacity is 10,000BTU, combining fan coil and heat pump. Heating capacity is 14,000BTU,

combining fan coil and heat pump.

With chilled water supply, the heating capacity is 2,000BTU, and with hot water supply the cooling capacity is 2,700BTU.

・SLEEP MODE was built-in to shut down the compressor during late-nights.

Designing began in September, 1994, and with various internal testing and testing with client observers in attendance, the first unit was delivered in July of 1996.
